Dahlias

I overwintered my dahlias in their pots in the shed.I had cut them quite low to the base.I have taken them out today.they are obviously a little dry so gave them a little water.have I overwintered correctly and will they come up again this year?
thanks in advance for any advice

    Put them in some very slightly damp compost and leave them somewhere away from frosts until they sprout 
    In London. Keen but lazy.
