Verbena Boriensis and Salvia hotlips

Hi, I am new to gardening and worrying I have lost my VB and Salvia hot lips to the winter. I am in the South east. When should I see new shoots on my VB which has been glorious for  the 2 years I have had it for. Also my Salvia, which I planted last summer shows no signs of new shoots yet?

I would wait a few months longer. We are still getting nightly frosts in the south east.
  • thank you.
  • Some plants don't get going until May, and VB is one of them, so don't give up hope before June.

Salvias are tough but look dead for quite a while. I did some cuttings off mine (put well out of date rooting powder on one end, which I cut at an angle and stuck into seed compost outdoors) and they all took. So if you want more they are super easy to 'make'

When do you cut back salvias in the spring? You don't have to wait for the last frosts surely?

When the VB comes, take cuttings, they root easily......
