Dear all ~ am I right in assuming that this climber is a grape vine?  It has appeared in my son's new back garden in the SE of England.  Any help would be appreciated.

I think that is white Bryony, a not uncommon weed of hedgerows. The fruit cause mild stomach upset, so best not try them.

Dear Cambridgerose12 ~ many thanks for your prompt response!  As they have two youngsters, plus a dog, it implies that its removable is preferable.  Again, thank you for your help.
  • Be careful when digging out the root, it's very poisonous. The root is a tuber (looks like a parsnip) and if you don't dig it all out it will grow back.
