Pls help me find the right shrubs

I’m looking for advice , what would be the best shrubs or trees for me to plant on this side of the garden, as on the picture. Conditions: - slope; next to massive pine tree so lots of pine needles most of the time; very dry and hard, compact soil although I’m trying to improve it with manure; gets sun in the morning. I need to make it look a little less sad and want to plant 3-4 shrubs along the green fence that would be basically bullet proof - hardy, ever green, can survive tough conditions; and would still look nice - to give me some greenery to cover this space. Any tips would be great!

There are various types of Euonymus which cope well with difficult conditions, once established.

Aucuba, spotted laurel, is pretty tough, though I know several people who don't like it!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Hi - Elaeagnus ebbingei might fit the bill - evergreen, tough, fast growing but can be trimmed. Not exciting but I like it as an attractive foliage backdrop.

Hawthorn or cotoneaster?  Fit your spec and will attract wildlife too.

You'd probably want to include some non evergreens or it will look a bit boring. Cotinus is a tough one.  Perhaps rugosa roses like Rosarie de L'Hay.

For tough evergreen ground cover Prunus 'Zabeliana' is quite useful, and Pyracantha 'Red Cushion' but you'd probably plant quite a few for a dense cover.
