Lychnis coronaria foliage

Is this the normal appearance for the foliage of Lychnis coronaria at this time of year. Should I just tidy it up or leave it. Many thanks.

You can take off the really grotty leaves from the bottom if you like, but it's not essential for the plant's health. Be careful not to damage the growing points.

Mine look just as bad. I tidy off the worst bits ( that is the brown dead looking leaves) with secateurs.
I find the new growth seems to hide the rest.

Mine  too.  Don't worry about it.
