How deep to plant Nerines

I’ve been tempted by a Dobies offer on Nerines, and have been  looking at advice on planting them. I want to have them all in pots because they need very well drained soil. Gardeners World online and Sarah Raven say to leave the tips showing, but a Monty Don video on YouTube, shows him putting them well down in a tall pot and completely covering them, as you would a tulip bulb. What do you reckon?
Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

I planted mine in the garden last year and had the tops just showing. The standard pink ones all came up and flowered profusely in the autumn, but only 2 of the 5 white ones did (I think it was the conditions though, rather than the planting method).

I'm afraid MD often gives inaccurate advice.

We have planted very deeply, and near the surface.  As long as they had good drainage, all survived, thrived and flowered.  In the case of Nerine's, I don't think there is a "right" answer.
