New lawnmower

Hi all,

At the moment I've got a cheap Homebase Qualcast 32cm electric mower which frustrates me as I only have 3 height settings which I manually have to adjust by turning it upside down.

I've been contemplating upgrading to a Bosch Rotak with easy adjustment and 5 settings and thinking of testing or swapping with my dad's.  However I've just seen this offer and not sure if it's good and if the mulching is of any benefit.

I'm hoping by more height adjustment settings I can get a better cut because I do find I could do with one between my 40mm and 60mm but other than that not sure a better mower would give me a better cut.

  • I take it you have a small lawn (or lots of time) cos the cutting width is 33cm.

It is yes, my current one is 32 which is nice and light and does the job, it's just the cutting heights that frustrate me and not sure if a better mower would have a better finish along with the options of the mulching deck.
  • Can a anybody advise me on which  lawnmower to get  as my old one has  packed up , Thankyou  in advance
  • Forgot to add that I do a lot of garden mowing so would need a self propelled  mower

Best of the British makes is Hayter. If you want to go one better Honda are excellent, however whatever make you buy, to keep in good condition they must be serviced regularly

Are you sure Hayter is still British owned and made.  There was a topic a while ago on the subject which showed the number of different companies which had owned the Hayter name over the past couple of decades.

Hayter has been owned by an American firm for the past 16 years.

If you browse the Which reviews of lawnmowers you’ll see there is no easy answer to the question which lawnmower should I buy? In the main Bosch Rotak, Honda and Stihl normally get high scores yet occasionally their models are well into the bottom half of the table.

Provide exact model numbers if you want precise advice
