Maple Tree Problem

I have a problem with a tree in my garden I think its a Maple Variegatum! It had a some sort of fungus over a branch which I have cut out. Now the tree is ousing what I think is sap all down the trunk !! What can I do

Are you sure it was a fungus and not just lichen?

Hi - because it is spring, the sap is rising in the tree as it wakes up after winter. There's nothing you can do except let it dry and heal over, and in future prune later in the year!

That is an awful lot of "bleeding". It is fairly likely that the tree will die, but I'm afraid there is no treatment.
