Madagascar Dragon Tree

I (think) I have a Madagascar Dragon Tree. It is 20 years old and recently I over watered it.  It has a wilted stem, which has collapsed above. The wilted part has dried out and seems woody. There is a new shoot below. Please could someone advise if I should I prune the stem above the shoot? I really want to save the stem if I can! The other stems are in recovery since being careful watering. Many thanks.

Yes, prune to above the bud, you can remove the damaged part of the stem and out the rest in water and it will grow roots.
