Water lilly

Hello i now had my water lilly for 17 years or so i put it in a water plant pot can anyone tell me if i can take it out of the pot and jusk keep it in the water will it damage the plant thank you

I should think  it's more than outgrown the pot if it's 17 years old

Hostafan is correct.  They should also be divided every few years, to keep them healthy and to help promote flowering.  It's also good to give them some aquatic fertiliser every year.  We use special pellets on ours, we shove them into the soil in each of our water lilly pots.
