I’m helping a friends mum who has dementia, & neither know when it flowers or colour, hence rather useless photo. She wanted it pruned. Might just leave it/think/look at it some more ! thank you Hostafan for replying.
I agree with @Hostafan1 It could be either of those and looks just like my Deutzia at the moment. Don't prune until after flowering (which will be quite soon.) All I do as far as pruning goes is to remove a few of the oldest stems by cutting as close to the ground as I can, immediately after flowering. Don't be tempted to give it an 'overall trim' as it won't respond well and will end-up looking rather ugly.
You can prune off any wayward stems and dead wood at any time though.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
