Geranium Summer Skies

Trisha21Trisha21 Posts: 15
My Geranium Summer Skies was delivered this morning, I would like to know if I can put it in a large pot for this year as the ground I was going to put it in hasn’t been finished, I hurt my back badly a couple of weeks back and haven’t been able to finish off the project that I started, I can’t bend or kneel so I need to be able to do something with the bare root ASAP. Any advice would be so welcome at the moment as I can’t call on for any help from my family who for obvious reasons are not allowed to visit!! I’m stuck!!

Hello Trish - very sorry about your back. I am sure it is best to get the bare root geranium planted in a pot asap. I guess you can pot it on into bigger pots as it grows.

I didn't know this one - really nice!

Hi Pianoplayer, thanks for your help. I have 2 others due to arrive any day now, Splish Splash & Double Jewel. I really don’t want to kill them off by doing the wrong thing!!
Or kill me off by trying to keep them alive!! I will attempt the pots and keep them in the greenhouse, pot size will be have to be by the size I can manoeuvre about at this time.

I am sure they will be fine for a few months! Good luck - and I hope you feel better soon.

Summer skies is a very tall geranium and in my experience needs support  although as they bare root the won't grow full size yet.
    Hope your back improves.
