It rather depends on the plants you are after and sometimes there is only one place that can supply a lusted after shrub. Having said that, Fibrex is great for pelargoniums, and I have found Dorset Perennials good for certain plants.
  • I agree on Dorset Parennials, also had a great experience with Farmyard Nurseries last year. But it depends what plants you're after.

  • I use Claire Austin for perennials and the plants have been fine.  Crocus is not the cheapest but the plants are good quality and the packing excellent. Taylors is good for Clematis.  The Secret Gardening Club is good value for small pots of assorted perennials.

I’m a Dorset perennial fan also. Beth Chatto also has a great selection of plants at reasonable prices. I also buy from Hardy’s cottage plants who are also excellent, postage isn’t cheap but the plants are always healthy and beautifully packed.

Yes, I agree, it's often about the plants you want to buy. I've just received some lovely healthy phlox from Claire Austin, and am awaiting some hydrangeas from signaturehydranges.co.uk and some peonies from macplants.co.uk. Let's hope they're nice and healthy when they arrive, too.
