RHS distance learning

Hello all, this is my first post!

I’m after a bit of advice about doing an RHS course through distance learning. I’m interested in doing the level 2 course in plant growth, propagation and development, and was wondering has anyone got experience of doing this (or another RHS course) through distance learning? There are a number of providers out there but I’m struggling to find any independent reviews to help me choose between them. It’s quite an investment of time and money to do it, so I’d rather try to make the right choice from the start!

Thanks in advance for your help :)

A couple of forum members have taken or are taking RHS courses. A couple of old threads here which may help  :)

From experience.  When it comes to studying, learning about horticulture, my advice is always go practical first.  If possible get employment with for instance your local authority, in the horticultural field.  This way you can get a good wage packet whilst learning.  Provided you show suffcient interest, the supervisors will often push you through, probably much easier than the RHS.

I wish you all the best.
  • @joseppi Did you find any recommendations for online / distance learning course providers for the RHS Level 2 certificate? I've compiled a list of providers but, like you, I'm struggling to find useful reviews. Especially the ones to avoid! So far in my list I have:

Learning with experts (quite expensive unless you use the peer option)
    Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
    HCC (The Horticultural Correspondence College)
    Craven College
    The B.E.S.T. in Horticulture Group
    Open Study College
    ADL

If anyone has any recent feedback on doing the RHS level 2 certificate with these providers I'd be grateful.

    Thanks,

    Michele
