Clematis montana

WoostieWoostie Posts: 53
I planted a Clematis monata Rubens last year and it started to grow okay. Obviously it's deciduous so it's lost all its leaves over winter but I can't see any signs of new growth on it yet. Am I being a bit impatient? I have grown one before and it grew very well but I can't remember when it started to show signs of life.

    Yes.
Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.

We gardeners must learn to cultivate patience ... it is an invaluable asset and can’t be bought 😉

Thank you, I thought that might be the case ;)

Not sure where you live @Woostie, but you might not have much longer to wait.  Here in the south east you can definitely see our montana buds swelling, even if they have not yet burst into leaf 🍃

Thank you @chicky, you've given me hope

I'm in west Wales so I would expect to be a little bit behind you.
