Tall plants for deep shade?

The back of my garden in front of the fence never gets any sun. I'd like something tall (1m min ideally) to go at the back. The soil is a commercial beds and borders top soil, and it's a little windy sometimes. We're in Essex so it's a relatively dry climate.

Any suggestions welcome.

Aucuba would cope well in the conditions you describe. Check out the all-green variety 'Longifolia'.
