Plant IDs
in Plants
Evening everyone, so I have a few more
plant IDs for you all, I’m pretty sure they’re cotoneaster and pyracantha though not sure on the species? The 1st and 2nd photo are of the same plant, as are the 3rd and 4th. Many thanks

3 and 4. Cotoneaster sp /named cultivar.
Time for some more.
There are many species of Cotoneaster as well as many named hybrids and cultivars.
Anyone have any ideas on specific species?
The thorns and leaves led the clues to Pyracantha.
For further help we need more clues.
For example Pyracantha have white flowers followed by coloured berries.
The berries may be red, orange or yellow.
Until then taking it any further would be just guess work.
As well as species many plants may have hybrids and cultivars.
A shrub that has been pruned as in your ouc will not have many flowers or berries...they have all been pruned off.
Species
- Pyracantha angustifolia. Southwest China.
- Pyracantha atalantioides. Southern China.
- Pyracantha coccinea. Northeastern Spain east to Northern Iran.
- Pyracantha crenatoserrata. Central China.
- Pyracantha crenulata. Himalaya.
- Pyracantha koidzumii. Taiwan.
- Pyracantha rogersiana. Yunnan.

Think of a bird flying fast overhead...you notice it is small and brown.
But to say what that bird is you would need to know far more information...size and shape of the beak, leg colour, detail of the feathers etc etc.
