Acer purchase advice
Hello GW!
A friend who is a regular on here suggested I post as I would appreciate some acer advice please. We are replacing one and considering using Paramount Plants (I think we've decided on an Acer Palmatum Fireglow https://www.paramountplants.co.uk/plant/acerfireglow/acer-palmatum-fireglow.html).
Has anyone had any experience with them, or would you recommend somewhere else that you think is more reliable?
They've got a 25% discount in February so we'd like to take advantage of that!
Many thanks!

I hope someone can advise on Paramount for you - and welcome to the forum

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Woldens, which is just minutes away from Paramount, have a good selection of Acers, and are much cheaper. They may not be in stock yet though, they usually get their shrubs and trees closer to Easter. Clockhouse Nursery is nearby, although not in Crews Hill, and this is the best value nursery in the area. They have a reasonable selection of good sized Acers usually, and they are also much cheaper than Paramount. Both Woldens and Clockhouse have great reputations, with good quality plants.
I would always suggest you buy direct from a grower who specialises in Acers.
Grafted good size, nice shape, healthy ones will not be cheap.

I will be interested to know what the leaves look like.
Different nurseries show completely different leaves
Which one is accurate????

I'm checking out Woldens, have a feeling their website isn't yet up and running as there's a promise, saying "Get ready, something cool is coming soon"! But there is a phone number so will try that.
Clockhouse sadly says that Remote ordering/delivery is suspended.
It may be that Paramount is the only game in town, and it's great to know they're good and reliable, if the most expensive. At least their 25% discount will cover the £29.95 delivery charge!
I have to make up my mind quite soon ...
Meant to say that we wanted a vertical grower for that particular space in our extremely small garden.
I suspect the Paramount leaf image in my 1st link is miles out.
