I planted this pampas grass in the summer was wondering what if any pruning is required? I’ve read that I should cut it down to ground, is this correct?
Take care when removing dead fronds. The edges of the leaves have sharp bits which point downwards so pulling your hands out can lead to bad cuts. There speaks the voice of experience!
My neighbor cuts back to the green level then uses one of those garden flame-thrower things to burn off the dead grass in the early spring, before the green starts to get growing again. The green grass tips might get a bit crisp, but it looks so much better than the ones that are cut flat across the top. The black bits crumble off quickly and the green grows though.

There might be some Green underneath and I'd cut back to leave the green.
