Evening gardeners! Does anyone know of a good website that has a long list stating the meanings of Latin plant name meanings, I.e macrohpylla - large foliage.
I'm reading at the moment, the Little Book of Latin for Gardeners. (Hardback) It tells the stories of how plants came to gets their names and investigates the etymology. It also has beautiful wood cut prints. Great for dipping in and out of. It would make a lovely present for people interested in this kind of thing. It's a slightly twee title. There's nothing particularly 'little' about it. I guess the word is there to stop people being imtimidated. There is a glossary at the back for quick reference.
