geraniums

Last summer I bought some geranium plants from Lidl and planted them in window boxes outdoors. In Autumn I brought them in to a south facing porch where they have thrived over winter and produced lots of flowers. However, they are now quite leggy and large and still making new buds. What should I be doing to maintain them and ensure continued survival ?

  • Do you mean pelargoniums? If so, you can cut them back quite hard in spring. They should go on to produce fresh new foliage and return to the bushy shape they (probably) were when you bought them. Plant outdoors when all risk of frost has passed.

Plant into fresh compost - you'll do this anyway of you are putting them in your window boxes.
