Which Lavender would you recommend re fragrance and colour please? I am looking to replace some that have become old and leggy. Many thanks.

  • One of my favourites is Hidcote. It’s quite compact and the flowers are a lovely rich purple.

East facing, top of a hill clay-loam, cultivated for centuries (7 years by me). Birmingham
  • 'Imperial Gem' was one that stood out for me on a visit to the Heacham show fields of Norfolk Lavender years ago, though I've never grown it.
  • A new favourite here is ‘Miss Katherine’

Extremely floriferous, flowers last ages and ages, great perfume and the bees love it. I just clip it back once at the end of the summer and after several years it’s still a nice sticky mound and not at all leggy.
