Plant ID please - Thank You

When we moved to our house, we have been guessing of the name of this plant by our back gate - Is it the real 'Castor Oil Plant' ? Some neighbours say it is but some don't know! An image is attached ...

We are also wondering if this is too close to the house as it is only 1.5m away from the foundation of the house.

Thank you as always for your insights.

Fatsia japonica, also glossy-leaf paper plant, fatsi, paperplant, false castor oil plant, or Japanese aralia.
It should be fine where it is.

Ricinus communis, is the poisonous castor oil plant.contains ricin, a water-soluble toxin,
    See pics below

  • It doesn't have an invasive root system so will be fine close to your house.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
