Small flock of birds descended on ivy berries.
The same size as  a starling but female sparrow like colours. Speckled front and horizontal stripes on face. Pointy beaks - I think but not sure.
Can anyone give me a start on what it might be?
PS they're fossicking about on the ground now.
In London. Keen but lazy.

    Redwing? https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/redwing/

The red ‘armpits’ are more easily seen when they fly.

    Redwings?
Feildfares - but they have quite a bit of grey, and not really stripey on faces

I think they might be redwings. Rusty orange under wings

     :)
They have a creamy stripe on their face. We get loads in the fields but they rarely come in the garden - too much food out there for them  :)
