Can anyone tell me what this plant is it got yellow flowers in the summer

    Looks like it might be a Hypericum. Bright golden yellow flowers in the summer and the leaves have a strong lemony smell?

    I think it is too as Lizzie27 said.
    It is funny but I never considered it smelled lemony, there is a smell and I like it, but just goes to show I never thought about what the familiar pong was. Now I will have to go out and smell it, and it isn't nice outside at the moment. So it will bug me until I do :D

    There are lots of varieties of Hypericum, but all have more or less the same requirements and care, so they're easy plants.  :)
    I dislike them intensely - apart from when they have their berries. The yellow flowers are so garish.
    I've never noticed the smell - but I have a very poor sense of smell which is probably the reason.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I was wondering whether it's because the poster, like me, does not like yellow flowers (don't ask me why, I like yellow but not in flowers except for Achillea) :D That shrub would be donated quickly if it were in my garden
