Alliums

Hi, I planted some allium purple sensation in our north east front garden for the first time in 2019 and they flowered well last summer. Last autumn I planted a selection of allium in the back garden, roughly south facing. The ones in the back are poking out of the soil by about 6cm. There is no sign of life from the bulbs in the front. Should I be concerned or are the north facing plants slower because the soil is colder?

Very probably Ruth. I've got some snowdrops in bloom in some areas but others are just poking through. If they are Purple Sensation alliums, you don't need to worry, they seem to multiply like mad.
