Seed and Plant Swop 2021

AnniDAnniD Posts: 12,178
New thread for a new year  :)
Just to say, although it's called "Swop" , it's for anyone looking for or getting rid of seeds. You don't have to swop (unless you want to of course !)

Hi, I have extra pink Lunaria seeds and mixed sweet peas, if anyone is interested. I will send by post. This is not a swap, so anyone can have them. If anyone has some Gunnera seeds to give away, I would be really interested or any seeds from indoors plants or showy outdoors plants. Thank you.

Hi I dont know if anyone is in London but got a giant burmese honeysuckle to rehome for free. Indoors at the moment but probably needs putting in the ground if your living in the south.

Here is my usual cheap and cheerful selection, mostly hardy annuals and self-seeders:

    Snapdragon           Antirrhinum                      Mixed colours
    Foxglove               Digitalis                            Pale lilac flowers
    Honesty                Lunaria annua                   Purple flowers
Rose campion        Lychnis coronaria              Vivid pink flowers
    White campion       Lychnis coronaria 'Alba'
    Marigold                Calendula officinalis           Orange  flowers
Nasturtium            Tropaeolum majus             Trailing plants, mixed shades of yellow                                                                        and orange
Evening primrose   Oenothera biennis              Yellow flowers
    Quaking grass        Briza                                 Green flowers
Poppy                    Papaver somniferum          Double pink flowers
    Wallflower              Cheiranthus                      Mixed colours
Welsh poppy           Meconopsis cambrica         Yellow and orange flowers

All the above are collected from my garden; I also have a few commercial veg seeds to spare:

    Broad bean         "The Sutton"
    Pea                    "Progress No. 9"
    Runner bean       "Mergoles"

Also cuttings of Sicilian chamomile Anthemis punctata

  • I have lots of cornflower seeds, love in a mist and gypsophilia (see photo) collected from the garden.  Happy to send some on to anyone.  I'm in the middle of sorting out my seed envelopes so will see what else I have.
I'd be grateful if anyone has thyme or anything else that is good for a cracked patio.

Just wondering if anyone has some Basil seeds going spare, also sweet pepper seeds ? Much appreciated  :)
  • @AnniD... no on sweet pepper, I do have some sweet basil seeds but they are out of date ( ie said sow before end 2018).. I used some in lockdown last year (2020) and they were patchy ( maybe 50% germination, no idea how many are supposed to germinate ordinarily). If no one else can provide I can send them to you if you fancy your chances  and pvt msg me your address? I'm guessing maybe  75-100 seeds or so left in packet.
I grew sweet peppers from seeds from supermarket pepper seeds --I'm not going to bother with that again because it took basically forever and took a lot of container space for the fruit to get to decent size and ripen, so this year I'm sticking to chillies.
Kindness is always the right choice.

Thanks @Desi_in_London, l will bear your kind offer in mind. I'll let you know one way or the other ASAP. I think that's the trouble with basil, once it passes its sow by date the germination does go downhill.
