@Perki - but surely you would run the risk of the tuber freezing if you left it outside on a cold night? You could then lose the whole lot.
@nik_browne6GickXFc - I would be tempted to grow it on as a cutting. I however, am biased as I grow a lot of dahlias from cuttings. It does have some drawbacks though. It’s quite early for cuttings (other than for dahlia exhibitors who want to increase their stock) and they really need a temperature of 10 degrees C to grow on. I would have said this was a win:win solution. If the cutting fails, you haven’t killed your mother tuber. If it survives, you have increased your stock.
I think the dahlia potted up cause nik mentioned repot it, I don't think it would do any damage for one night other than blacken the foliage and knock it out again , unless it were very cold
