What's eating my Knautia

So this is Knautia macedonica Melton pastels.
I planted it in may but it hasn't flowered at all this year despite being in a sunny corner of my garden.
Anyway, not asking about that... Any idea what's eating it? I've seen it's slug resistant but something is stripping the soft leaf matter from the harder matter...

Any clues?

Must admit it does look like slug or snail damage to me. I see you have scattered some slug pellets around, did that produce any results?

Have you checked for Caterpillars ?

It won't flower until next Spring, so I wouldn't worry about the damage for now.  It probably won't kill the plant, the roots will be fine, and it should come back next Spring.  At that point you might want to keep a regular eye out for any damage, as you don't want to lose new growth that will eventually flower.
