Using clean, sharp secateurs, nip out any stems that have no new buds but don't give it a hard prune as it flowers on old stems. After it has established itself in 2 or 3 years time and has a good, strong root system you can, if you like , cut back the stems in spring to encourage more new and vigorous stems to form. Thank you Obelixx, noted. If it is normal at this time of the year even with though it is producing lots flowers, I will feed it in spring as you mention.
This range of clematis from Evison has been bred to be prolific flowerers but even they will succumb to changes in daylight hours and temperatures. All clematis are hungry, thirsty plants so feeding is essential every spring.
