Plants ideas

Hi
I need plants to go along the fence where there is dappled light. Can anyone suggest me any plants preferably flowering plants or colourful shrubs not more than 50cms tall. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance

    Welcone to the forum.
If you could post a photo that would help.
How deep is your border and do you know what sort of soil you have.
Is there a reason why you only want short plants?

The border is about 1.5ft deep. Not sure about the soil. I think mix of sand and some fertiliser we have already added. Definitely not a clay. The fence is on one side and it covers quite a portion where there is no direct sunlight. I don’t want something big that make it more dark and gloomy. I can go up to 150 cms. Attaching pictures. Suggest anything please as I’m new to all this.

Don't think you will agree with me but in the centre panel I would curve the bed out and plant a tree which would block the windows behind
I would also curve the other beds but not quite so far and plant a couple of clematis, these can be trained along wires and vine eyes or there are several roses that cope with shade.
Lower ground cover heucheras, hardy geraniums ajuga.Snowdrops

Thanks for a very quick response. Appreciate it a lot.
    Curved borders sound nice. 👍🏻
Do all clematis do well in shade?
Bear in mind this area is completely shaded throughout the day.

Not all clematis but have a look at Thorncroft clematis website and Taylor's
The easiest to deal with are the group 3 as you cut them down every spring.
I would also paint the fence a dark grey even though it's a darker area as plants do stand out better but maybe you prefer a lighter pastel shade in which case you could tie in a clematis to contrast or compliment your colour.
