late insertion of gladiolis

what do I do with gladiolis which were put in very late ,do we wait until greenery dies down (no flowers) then dig up or what?

The ones I put in at the beginning of June are just flowering.  I let them all die down naturally. Lift if you have heavy clay. In sandy free draining soil you can leave them in.
