Forsythia

Good evening. I have a fairly mature forsythia in the garden. (Inherited, i did not plant it!) Anyway, as its fairly big and fairly hideous i want to dig it out. Its approximately 7ft tall, but my question is. Do these have deep roots?

I think they go down to around 2 feet or so. One of my neighbours dug one out and he took a pickaxe to the rootball.
