Trees in Three’s

Recently had a gardener round to look at my plot and give me some ideas.
He came up with a potential idea of creating beds , with 3 trees in one of them to help block unsightly views.
Is it okay to do this ...wont they get tangledand wouldnt one large specimen do the trIck instead?

This is a stand of 5 silver birches on a plot 5 metres x 2.5 metres. I don’t think they’re too cramped.
