Prune hedging?.....

Hi, I planted this escallonia (?) hedge back in Spring, it's put on great growth.  I was wondering should I give it a little trim now or leave it alone?

I wonder if what you said about your roses applies to your hedge.

If you want the hedge to be wider and stockier at the base, then you could consider cutting off those leader shoots that you see on each plant.  If getting it to a reasonable height in the next few years is more important, then I would leave it as it is.  If any frosts are expected in your area, leave pruning it until next Spring.
