Advice on Tree Planting Chestnut leaf Holly

Hello there,
I am planting some high level screening for our town garden.  We have decided on chestnut leaf full standard trees to sit above the fence level.  We are going for big plants 3.5 to 4 m high.  My question is how close can we get away with planting them.  Is 1.2m apart too close?  We want the foliage to intermesh to create a dense screen and obviously the sooner the better.  However do we risk having weaker plants which won't grow so high because they are competing for food and light?  Any advice would be most helpful!  Thank you.

You should be spacing them to allow for the final size of the canopy to give them enough room, but that might not give you instant privacy. For plants that big you will be looking at a specialist nursery, so ask for advice from them.
