Please ID this shrub...

Could someone please identify this common shrub, it grows quickly and has a long flowering season with pink flowers.
Many thanks
Robin

Hi Robin.  It grows bigger than that in my garden.  The thing you find with this shrub is it flowers on last years' wood which means you have to take out the old stems at ground level to get vigorous, flowering new stems. That specimen in the picture has few flowers because it's been cropped (IMO) - a bit like a hedge so the flowers have been cut off.

I inherited this one but when it is in flower it's a magnificent thing, absolutely covered in pale pink flowers.  This pic shows it out of flowering season but you can see it gets bigger and messier than shown in your picture.  Hope this is helpful.  Ignore the comedy pile of topsoil and weeds!!
