Calla lilies - Over-wintering please

I bought a pot of callas in bud in the summer, moved them into a larger pot and they have been glorious, putting up many new flowers.   Can someone advise me on what to do with them for winter and when to do it please.  I’m in Essex, fairly mild area, south facing garden and they could be sheltered next the house wall if necessary.

thanks

  • I grow ours in pots.  I put them in our unheated greenhouse just before any frosts, and reduce watering to almost zero.  If its a warm Winter, when the greenhouse can get quite warm, I occasionally give the pots a tiny amount of water, just to keep the soil from completely drying out.  Around about March, I start to slowly increase watering, and then start a liquid feed once a week around April.  Once I now the frosts are over, I put them outside.

I accidentally left some in the ground a few years ago, and they survived (we are in London), so similar temperatures to you.
