Slug damage to kale

I've been away for 5 days and returned to find that slugs have had a field day with my kale plants. They are about 4" high but all that left is the leaf skeleton. I've had a late night patrol and removed about a dozen slugs, will the plants recover or will they have had it

Have they left a growing point in the centre? If so they’ll continue to grow
... providing someone deals with the hungry slug menace 🙄

Thanks @Dovefromabove yes the plants looks really good just no leaf apart from the skeleton. The slugs are doomed, it was head lamp and secateurs last night 🐌
