Hi
Can someone tell me the name of this tree please? It’s in my friend’s garden and I am told it’s evergreen. It’s about 3 metres tall, I’d say.
Many thanks!

    It looks like a  Photinia.

Thanks @Fairygirl, I thought the leaves look like Photinia’s, but I’ve only seen them as wide shrub. Do you think this one is a standard form of Photinia?

People just shape them as they see fit.
I've never seen the attraction them personally, but many people like them.  :)

Thank you - I am looking for a small tree for my small garden and thought this tree might fit the bill, being evergreen and not too tall. While googling Photinia tree, I came across ornamental-trees.co.uk and am attracted to a few trees there 😊

they always seem to be planted outside new build "showhomes" .
There was one in our garden when we moved, I cut it down.
    Devon.

There's a house near me @Hostafan1, with a narrow, albeit quite long,  border between it and the neighbouring house.  I could see it every day I drove past. They planted a row of standard Photinias there, which deteriorated in our weather fairly rapidly. Not long after - they replaced them with standard Olive trees.
I had to laugh. The GC or nursery must have seen them  coming.  :D

They now have a row of standard roses of some kind. Needless to say, they've survived. I don't know why they didn't just plant a hedge  ;)
