Mahonia suckers

BusylizBusyliz Posts: 71
Hello folks. Next door's mahonia is throwing up suckers which have come under the shared fence and are popping up through our rockery. It's a real pain and I have been trying to dig them up which is an impossibility. Can I use anything that will kill this very unwelcome visitor?

    You can paint with weedkiller.
Bear in mind tho that this solution could result in killing the main ( neighbour's ) plant eventually and could therefore come back on you re "knowingly" causing damage.
The other alternative would be to create some sort of barrier against your side of the fence.

Is it possible to dig down in front of the fence and cut them off there, then put in a barrier, slate roof tiles or heavy plastic.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not possible to dig down and put in a barrier. Too many big rocks and a mature euonymous in the way.

Maybe you could ask your neighbours?
