Ornamental grass dead or not?

Hello
I suspect these ornamental grasses were not watered sufficiently over lockdown despite our neighbours best efforts. They haven’t grown this season. Is there a way to tell if they’re truly dead or worth keeping until next spring? Thanks

This is an ex-grass I think. There would have been regrowth by now. No harm in planting it in an out of the way spot to see if a spark of life might still exist in there, but I doubt it. You'd see it next spring.

Normally you'd see some tiny green shoots lurking at the bottom, and l can't see any from your photo.
Do you know which variety of grass it is?

Not promising looking, but you could submerge them until thoroughly soaked [a bucket would be fine] and then re pot or plant as suggested, and see what happens.

Depends on how much you like them too, as to whether you want to try and revive them  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Can't recall the species, but having had a quick look and pulled at the stems they do appear to be 'exs', oh well, thanks for all the advice!
