Plant ID please

Hi. Can anyone ID this plant for me please? Its low growing and seems to have multiple stems. I know its not a great photo but its at the base of an old apple tree amongst alot of other plants and isn't easy to get to.

    Thanks @B3. Probably best to have it out then. It isnt anything I've planted.

    Well I wouldn't even compost it just in case, but some people have no trouble with it.

    We tried to grow this as ground cover many years ago and it never took in our garden.

    It doesn't look as if its done much here. We have lived her 5 years (almost) and its the first time I've seen it. I was clearing apple tree suckers when i spotted it.
