Spiraea arguta (if that's what it is!) is lovely in spring, wreathed in little white flowers. You prune it after it flowers, not this time of year or you'll remove all the flower buds.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Thanks everyone, it did flower with some small white flowers last year so the Spirea Arguta seems to be the most likely. Unfortunately it's looked very worse for wear the last couple of years so I'm going to replace it with a shrub rose
