Re-potting peace lily

Got a reasonable sized plant I inherited from the mother-in-law but the roots are really coming right through the bottom of the pot now.

Two questions really, I assume it's still early enough in the year to do this now without worrying?

Secondly, what sort of compost mix would you recommend for one?

    Anyone?

Hoping a John Innes 2 with some grit/perlite would be fine?
  • Hi Harry,

I don't have the answers to your questions, but I've potted on quite a few peace lily's and just used whatever compost I had to had and some perlite and they've all turned out fine.

I've also split a few when I've been potting them on to get multiple plants so now I have quite a few!!

Hope that at least helps somewhat!

@Dirty Harry I have had a Peace Lily for quite some time now and it doesn't seem to mind what happens to it as it always springs back. I stupidly left a fan emitting hot hair too close to it during the winter and it burnt the leaves. I had to cut off quite a bit of the plant to remove it and then potted the remaining part with more general purpose compost. I didn't hold out much hope but it's as good as new and after a dose of Miracle Grow it produced two flowers. It lets me know when it needs watering as it gets droopy. If it were mine I wouldn't think twice about repotting it now but others may not agree.
May think of splitting mine in the future @rosehenderson90 :)
