    @Bijdezee are you able to help?  Are we losing something in translation?

    Rat Tailed Maggot, a Hoverfly larva. I needs to be back in the culture or a pond or somewhere fairly wet.

  • I placed it back. Thanks
    I wanted to know if it was harmful. But I think it's good.
    My father also have it in his vulture.

    It is good, Hoverflies are good pollinators and part of our wildlife. I think the word you want is culture (leaves soaking in water?). A Vulture is a bird

    Vulture would be 'gier' in Dutch so I'm thinking it's 'vloeibare mest' in Dutch, liquid feed. but those rat tail things are like others said  from hoverflies. I've had them too.

    Voor Saskja,

    Dit zijn maden van zweefvliegen. Ze zijn niet schadelijk maar ziet er vreselijk uit.

  • hey, it is what Monty calls seaweed fertiliser. But mine is made from borage, banana peel and/ or nettles. In Dutch we call it "gier".
    Thanks for all the information.

    Do you two know the Tuin Van Maurice?   It is glorious and well worth a visit, as are the gardens of the chateau d'Oostkamp - https://jardinsdoostkerke.com/the-garden/

    @saskja.snauwaertplXa854I

    Dat is inderdaad redelijk dichtbij. Ik ben van Engeland en ik ben getrouwd met een Belgisch man.

    Welkom bij het forum  :)
