New Barrel pond stringy web-like weed?

    Ah great! Snails! Wonder how they got there, nature is amazing. I had another look and spotted these worm creatures in the act of eating the leaves! Still not sure what to do to stop them though!

    Quite likely there were snail eggs on something that had a drink from your pond that introduced them.
    I bought some pond snails, but no ramshorns, but I've got both now as well as vast amounts of other things wriggling around - it's all fascinating. I've got lots of baby newts too.
    I can see mosquito larvae in the top pic.
    Nibbles out of leaves is just part of having a wildlife pond - some wildlife has had a nibble - that's wildlife for you :)

    The best thing to do is nothing and let the pond balance itself out - whatever is eating the leaves will either stop when it has developed enough or will eat all the leaves and then die of starvation.  Or a predator may turn-up and do the job for you.  The more you try and make 'adjustments', the longer it will take for the pond to come to an ecological balance.  :)
