Newly planted Pinus pinea (Stone pine)

Hi,

I have just planted a new stone pine. I am currently watering it daily (lightly for the next two weeks) to establish the root system and was wondering if I should also fertilise it to promote growth?

Can anybody provide some guidance if this should be done and if I should also be other things to help it alone.

    If it were me I would give one big soak after planting and then, if dry, another in a week or so. Little and often will encourage the roots towards the surface. I would only fertilise if your soil is poor.

    Thank you for your reply. I’ll stop watering daily and now water only weekly as per your suggestion.
