Propagating Gaura plants

Has anyone propagated Gaura plants from cuttings? When is the best time? All of mine have flowering shoots, can I take a small stem from low down in the plant even though it has a flower bud on it?

The RHS saus softwood cuttings in spring or semi-ripe in summer so yes, have a go and remove the flowering tips.  You'll probably get more than one cutting per stem anyway.

I’ve taken cutting around this time and they’ve taken.

just to hijack - do you give yours the Chelsea chop?  Mine are pretty leggy, but wouldn’t want to cut flowers off.

They’re  very easy from seeds and will flower in the first year. I don’t bother with cuttings now.

Thanks all. I will try cuttings, rooting in water and seeds, it will be interesting to see which take.
