It looks very much like Salix caprea, aka Goat Willow, the fluffy seeds of which get blown everywhere and seem to especially like neglected pots. I get them popping-up in my blueberry pots.

Thank you! A goat willow had never crossed my mind. What would be the issue of planting it out Hostafan1? I know nothing about willows so will read up this evening.
It's a thug, grows very big very quickly and saps water and nutrients from the soil. No redeeming features in form, foliage, flowers, colour, perfume..........
